WATCH: Shadab Khan gets carried off by teammate in unusual way
Shadab Khan was being carried off by a teammate in an unusual way. In the ongoing National T20 Cup in Pakistan, Rawalpindi and Sialkot faced each other in a match, where the incident took place. The match between the two sides happened at the United Bank Limited Sports Complex in Karachi on Sunday. Shadab bowled a couple of economical overs before the incident happened.
During the match, the Pakistan All-rounder sustained an ankle injury in an attempt to stop a ball. The leg-spinner, unfortunately, stepped on the ball while trying to stop it from travelling towards the boundary with his leg. Shadab hurt his left ankle in the process and called for support from the dressing room. The physios initially applied an ice pack to his ankle to see if he could be healed.
However, upon analyzing his condition, the physios concluded that he could not continue to play. Shadab was hence asked to be taken off from the middle for further evaluation. Ideally, one would have expected a stretcher with a couple of people to lift the cricketers in such a situation. What followed led to the shock of the netizens, who were ashamed of the way Shadab was handled.
Shadab Khan gets carried away in piggyback style
It seemed as if the basic facilities in the Pakistan National T20 League were not good. Shadab was carried without the help of the stretcher after being injured. One of his teammates appeared in the middle and carried him away in piggyback style. After the incident, some of the fans were seen taking selfies with Shadab, who was not in good form in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023.
The video soon went viral on the internet and received mixed opinions. Some of them questioned the basic facilities in Pakistan cricket. Others criticized those who captured the selfie of Shadab, who was in pain. Shadab was not selected for the squad for the tour of Australia. It is interesting to note that he was named the vice-captain of the team during the ODI World Cup 2023.
