WATCH: Shahid Afridi tells son-in-law Shaheen Afridi not to call him ‘sasur’, video goes viral
Former all-rounder Shahid Afridi and his son-in-law Shaheen Shah Afridi are two of the greatest players in the history of Pakistan cricket. While Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket a few years ago after leaving a lasting legacy on the field, Shaheen made a name for himself as a sensational fast bowler early in his career.
Afridi and Shaheen share a special bonding that was strengthened when the latter wed Afridi’s daughter Ansha Afridi in early February this year. The former Pakistan skipper and left-arm pacer is often in the news and once again caught the attention of cricket fans after a video of their interview went viral on social media.
During a chat with a private Pakistani channel, Afridi warned Shaheen for calling him “sasur” (father-in-law) in public. “Sasur, mai tumhare muh se ye dubara na sunu (I don’t want to hear this word from your mouth again),” Shahid Afridi told Shaheen in an interview with Samaa TV.
Shaheen currently plays for Pakistan in all formats and is also the captain of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars. He has won two titles in a row for the franchise. Meanwhile, the 46-year-old Afridi is enjoying his cricket life by playing Legends League Cricket (LLC).
The Pakistan great told Shaheen not to call him father-in-law because he has also won a cricket trophy recently. Afridi was part of Asia Lions, who defeated India Maharajas by 9 runs in the LLC final.
“He has won PSL with Lahore Qalandars. Next day, I won the Legends League Cricket trophy in Qatar,” Afridi said.

He is like my friend: Shaheen Afridi
Talking about his relationship with Afridi, Shaheen said that he is like a friend. The 23-year-old also recalled the fanboy moment when he took the wicket of Afridi in 2017.
“He is my role model. He has been the inspiration for me. I have enjoyed Lala’s batting, I used to switch off TV when he used to get out. Ye mere hero hai. He is like my friend,” said Shaheen.
“Never thought I would become a family member. When I played against him it was a dream come true feeling for me. I took his wicket,” he added.
Reacting to his son-in-law’s comment, Afridi said, “I have always been a friend to my wife and daughter. Shaheen is like my son and friend. He is a very good boy and he has surprised me with his captaincy. It is so good to see the maturity in him at such a young age.”
