Brampton won despite Shahid Afridi’s brilliance
Toronto chose to bat first after winning the toss. Toronto managed to score just 142 runs despite a strong start from the top-order batters due to the loss of 8 wickets in the first innings. The most runs were scored by Nicholas Kirton, who scored 50 runs, which included 5 fours and a six in his innings. Speaking of Afridi, he scored 15 runs off of 12 balls and was able to smash only one four.
Brampton’s attempts to chase the target got off to a terrible start as they lost their first three wickets for only 34 runs during the powerplay. But their middle-order batters kept things in check and got the squad back into the game. Hussain Talat produced a brilliant performance, scoring 44 runs off just 33 balls. In his innings, he hit two fours and as many sixes.
The tailenders Shahd Ahmadzai and Jan Frylinck kept their composure and helped the side win the match by just one wicket in the last over despite Toronto making significant breakthroughs at the key moment. Afridi put up an excellent bowling effort, picking up two wickets, but he wasn’t able to help his team win the game.
