Watch: Shoaib Malik loses his bat and his wicket against Peshawar Zalmi during PSL 8
Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik has been playing for Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2023. He has played some extraordinary innings but hasn’t been able to finish games for the 2020 winners. Talking about the team’s performance, they have played seven games and have won only two. With five losses, they are barely in the race for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, in the game against Peshawar Zalmi, Malik got himself in a weird position while losing his wicket. In the 11th over of the innings, former Pakistan all-rounder Aamer Jamaal bowled a heavy ball that rushed to Malik’s bat. In reply, 2009 20-20 World Cup winner tried to play a pull shot but lost his bat. The bat went towards the wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris.
On the other hand, the ball wet up in the air and Jamaal took a return catch. The video of the incident has been going viral.

Meanwhile, talking about the game between Zalmi and the Kings, Imad Wasim-led Karachi won the toss and elected to bowl first. They bowled well in the powerplay as they took three wickets for two runs. However, the 2017 winner Zalmi was rescued by the likes of Tom Kohler-Cadmore (56), Haseebullah Khan (50), Rovman Powell (64), and Jamaal (13*). They took the team to 197/5 at the end of the innings.
In reply, the Blue Brigade, Karachi failed to chase down the total despite the fifties from Matthew Wade and Imad Wasim. They were restricted to 173/8, losing the game by 24 runs.
All credit goes to Rovman Powell: Imad Wasim
After the game, the Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim said that Zalmi’s recovery from 2/3 to 197/5 happened due to Rovman Powell’s innings.
“We didn’t bowl well. You have to bowl yorkers here. Length ball was coming onto the bat. We have to be very decisive with what we’re bowling. They bowled yorkers and it was hard to hit. It was good to see Amir back in form. It was tough to bowl spin in these conditions. Credit goes to Rovman Powell for the way he batted. Shamsi bowled well and Mujeeb bowled well. But I gave up 18 in my last over. We could have held them to under 180. 200 was a par score but not a winning score. We are still in the tournament, so you never know,” Wasim said in the post-match
