MS Dhoni has been synonymous with Chennai in the Indian T20 League since the inception of the tournament. He has been an integral part of the team and has led them in all their seasons before the ongoing edition. He might have been born in Ranchi but Chennai has become a second home to him due to his association with the franchise.

The local crowd adores him and calls him ‘Thala’, concerning his contribution to the franchise. He might have given up captaincy of the team but has not forgotten how to finish off matches with perfection. In Chennai’s latest outing against Mumbai, the former Indian skipper showed that he still possesses the ability, skill and composure to finish off games for which he has been famous throughout his career.

Mumbai posted a total of 155 runs in their 20 overs while batting first in the match. Chennai had a poor start to their chase as they lost a wicket in the first over of the innings. Even after that, they kept losing wickets throughout the innings and it appeared that they are losing the plot. But when the match looked over for the men in yellow, Dhoni decided that this was the right time to show that he is ‘definitely not’ finished yet. He took the match to the last over along with Dwaine Pretorius and they required 17 runs off the last six deliveries.

Pretorius was dismissed off the very first ball of the over by Jaydev Unadkat and with a single in the next ball by Bravo, MSD took strike. Chennai required 16 runs off four balls at this stage and what happened next was unreal, to say the least. Dhoni smashed a six and a four of the next two deliveries and then scampered between the wickets for a couple in the next ball. This bought down the equation to 4 runs of one ball and Dhoni placed the ball perfectly to the fine leg boundary taking his team to victory.

The victory elated the fans and a video going viral on the internet is evidence of their joy. The video shows a typical family in Tamil Nadu erupting in joy as soon as Dhoni hit the last ball for four. The video shows the craze MSD still has among his fans.
