WATCH: Virat Kohli gives valuable tips to young Sri Lankan players
Former India captain Virat Kohli is sweating it and getting ready for the big game against Pakistan on Sunday (September 9). India will begin its Super Fours campaign in the 2023 Asia Cup against their arch-rivals at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This is the same venue where India’s batting maestro Kohli smashed three ODI tons, each time he batted in succession.
The 34-year-old right-handed batter did not have a great start to the tournament with the bat. Kohli could score just four runs in the only innings that he batted against Pakistan in the group stage. He did not get a chance to bat in the game against Nepal as India romped home to a ten-wicket win.
Virat Kohli turns mentor with young Sri Lankan cricketers
Just before the game against Pakistan on Sunday, Kohli was spotted toiling hard at the nets with his teammates. However, the former India captain took some time out to interact with some of the young Sri Lankan players as he was seen giving them some tips by giving a pep-talk after the practice session.
The youngsters also seemed enthusiastic at the prospect of speaking to one of the greatest cricketers in the world. In a one-minute 33-second video shared by the Indian Cricket Board on its official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, Kohli was also seen receiving a special silver bat as a sweet gesture from the Lankan cricketers.

Colombo has been witnessing inclement weather for the last few days. There are chances of rain playing spoilsport during the IND-PAK match on Sunday. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has taken the decision to provide a reserve day for the game.
The last time the two teams met was in Pallekele during the group phase game which was washed out due to rain. India were bowled out for 266 as their top three Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli failed to find any resistance against the fiery Pakistan pace attack. Both the teams shared a point each and the Men in Blue, in their second match, crushed Nepal to make it to the Super Four stage.
