In a thriller game against defending champions Sri Lanka, India registered a crucial victory by 41 runs at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With this victory, India raced to the finals of the prestigious tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led squad put up an amazing bowling performance to book their place in the finals.
After batting first, India scored 213/10 in 49.1 overs. Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage took five wickets as he dismissed KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya. However, in response, Sri Lanka lost quick wickets before Wellalage and Dhananjaya de Silva tried to rescue their team. Eventually, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav won the game for India by taking four wickets.
Meanwhile, during the game, Indian fans got one of the best views on the field. Former India skipper Virat Kohli was seen celebrating every single moment during the game, which also engaged fans and kept the team’s morale high. One of his best celebrations came when Indian captain Rohit Sharma took a sharp catch of Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka in the first slip.

As soon as Rohit took the catch, Kohli came towards him and hugged him. Their bond was cheered not only by fans but also by commentators. However, soon the video of their celebrations went viral on social media, as fans were delighted to watch two of the modern-day greats being happy ahead of the prestigious tournaments.

Earlier in the game, India skipper Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent half-century. Rohit, in his innings, scored 53 runs off 48 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. During his innings, Rohit completed 10,000 ODI runs for India and became the second fastest after Kohli to do so. He also struck an 80-run partnership with Shubman Gill. The pair became the fastest Indian opening pair to complete 1,000 ODI runs.
After Gill’s departure, Rohit had a brief partnership with Virat Kohli. The duo added 10 runs for the second wicket but achieved a significant milestone in between. The duo became the fastest pair in the world to complete 5,000 partnership runs in one-day internationals. They achieved this after adding five runs to the game. It’s worth noting that India will now aim to win the Asia Cup and get ready for the marquee ODI World Cup.
