‘We are not looking at any particular target’ – Parash Mhambrey clears out India’s expectations ahead of day 4 vs England
India started their day 3 with a lead of 175 runs with Ravindra Jadeja heading towards a century. However, much to everyone’s surprise Jadeja got dismissed on 87 runs. Although he played an amazing knock, he missed one well-deserved century. With this, India’s hope of setting up a huge lead went in vain. As England has already put up 126 runs on the scoreboard, India’s bowling coach Parash Mhambrey talks about the atmosphere in the dressing room. As per the team, they aren’t thinking of any specific target and are open to chasing anything that comes their way.
“We are not looking at any particular target (to chase) as I said the objective is to come tomorrow morning and get early wickets and limit their total.”
The way England started their second innings, it felt like they’d put up a good score but as the innings proceeded, wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Thanks to Ollie Pope’s 148 runs of 208 balls, the visitors crossed the 100-mark lead and are in a comfortable position. They will be looking forward to scoring more and giving a huge target to put pressure on India.
‘We just want to bowl in the right areas to extract turn and bounce from the wicket’ – India’s bowling coach Parash Mhambrey
India will be looking forward to dismissing the England side early in the morning to stop them from putting up a huge total on the board. Since the fourth day’s pitch will have more turn, a big target might put pressure on the hosts. Bowling Coach Parash Mhambrey spoke about India’s plans for the visitors on the fourth day.
“We are not putting any pressure on ourselves by setting any target. We just want to bowl in the right areas to extract turn and bounce from the wicket. If you look at the way the game has progressed over the last few days from the first session, the amount of turn the ball has taken, I think it got better in the second innings. I think it is going to get a bit better on the slower side.”
