‘We got a tour to India, where we played three ODIs, so the teams will know each other well’ – Marcus Stoinis

The Australian cricket team’s attacking all-rounder Marcus Stoinis recently got candid with Revsportz and talked about Australia’s series against India before the commencement of the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India. Both Australia and India will begin their campaign of the ODI World Cup against one another on 8 October at the M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. 

Marcus Stoinis talked about how both the teams will get a good opportunity to understand each other’s game plan in the mini ODI series ahead of the World Cup. The miniseries will also help both the cricket boards to pick up their best players before the marquee tournament.

Further, when asked about Virat Kohli, Marcus Stoinis, being a former member of the Indian Premier League team franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore understood Virat Kohli’s energy in a team quite well and said above his skills in the game. It is his passion and energy which drives the way for him.

“Leading into the tournament, we got a tour to India, where we played three ODIs, so the teams will know each other well. Being one of the first games of the tournament, playing each other early will help, and it will be a good chance for both sides to set the tone for the competition. It’s a long World Cup, nine rounds, and I think that getting a few big wins early would be the way that everyone wants to start,” said Stoinis. 

“His skills are as good as we have seen, probably forever in the history of cricket, but what sets him apart for me is that he brings his energy and passion to absolutely every game of cricket that he plays. He has figured out what his best version is in terms of performance, and it seems like he can channel and bring that energy every single game,” he added.
