‘We will try to break their winning streak’ – Deepti Sharma on winning 3rd ODI against Australia

The Indian women’s cricket team is locking horns with the Australian team for a single test match and 3ODI and 3-match T20 series for Australia’s tour of India. The Indian team registered a historic victory against Australia as they won the only test match by 8 wickets in Mumbai.

As per the ODI series, the Indian team has not had much luck as Australia has registered the victory by winning the first two matches. India’s star player Deepti Sharma recently reflected on India’s performance against Australia. She talked about how she looks forward to breaking Australia’s winning streak in the third ODI match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 2nd Jan.

“Look, winning and losing is a part of the game — but we have improved as a team — be it as a bowling unit or batting. We will try to break their winning streak as soon as possible,” said Deepti Sharma.

“We did well as a bowling unit, the spinners and the pacers to have restricted them. At the same time, the batters did well, their partnerships in between were good. It is not easy to perform so well in your first match which Shreyanka did. Richa played fearless cricket which was enjoyable to watch,” she added.

“(If) I have to speak about my bowling, I have trained a lot. I have increased my bowling sessions and have also bowled in different phases such as with the new ball, in the middle overs, or even how to bowl with the old ball in the death overs. Every team plays to win but some days you can pull it off and some days you are not. We gave it a good fight, took it till the end of the game and now I am focusing on tomorrow’s match,” Deepti concluded.
