India is set to witness the best players in the world become part of the biggest event in a few weeks. October 2023, will officially see the ODI Cricket World Cup start. England will be vying to retain their title. The other nine teams eye the biggest prize in ODI Cricket and dislodge Jos Buttler-led England off their pedestal.

India has won the title twice with the last win coming in 2011. It was under the captaincy of the great MS Dhoni, that India broke the 28-year wait for a world title. The Indian team hasn’t won a major title since the 2013 Champions Trophy win.

In a report carried by Cricbuzz, the ODI World Cup 2023 will see a spectacular opening ceremony on 4th October. This is just a day before the first game of the tournament to be played. England and New Zealand face off in the opening to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad is set to witness an opening ceremony with members of the apex cricketing body set to be present. The biggest names of the Indian cricket board are also set to be part of this event. As per reports, while Ahmedabad has been chosen for the opening ceremony the event may not be held in the stadium.

The event is to be called ‘Captains Day’ 

As per Cricbuzz, there are going to be a lot of enthralling performances showing the culture of India. This will be followed by what is called a special occasion to brief all the ten captains taking part in the tournament.

There is a lot of action expected and the excitement is building up with the tournament date drawing closer. The opening ceremony and the interactions with all the ten captains is expected to be the highlight.

Ahmedabad is going to be the hotbed of action as they host some of the biggest games. Narendra Modi Stadium will host the opening game of the World Cup. This will be followed by the big India-Pakistan encounter on 14th October. The final game of the tournament will be played in front of a capacity crowd on 19th November.
