The West Indies Cricket Team’s Twitter handle responded to a user in a funny way after they defeated Team India in the second match of the three-match ODI series at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown,  in Barbados on Saturday, July 29. The series is now equally poised at 1-1, with the third and final match of the series to be played at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Tuesday, August 1.

The Windies won the match by six wickets and their skipper, Shai Hope was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant match-winning performance. He played an unbeaten knock of 63 runs off 80 balls. Hope built an unbeaten partnership of 91 runs along with Keacy Carty for the fifth wicket and took the hosts to victory. Carty also played a crucial role in the victory as he played a supporting role and played an unbeaten knock of 48 runs from 65 balls.

We need to replicate that and need to be more consistent with the bat and ball: Shai Hope

This victory was an important one for the Caribbeans as it came after losing nine consecutive matches against the Men in Blue. The West Indies side won the last encounter back in 2019. The West Indies Cricket Team’s Twitter handle shared a post with a team’s picture and caption: “Series leveled!” to which a West Indies Cricket fan wrote a message on the board outside his restaurant: “Free rum when West Indies win.”

The Windies Cricket shared the tweet and commented: “Bring the rum and come.”

“I am happy, when I get a fifty, when I get a hundred, and when the team wins. You got to find ways to score quickly on that wicket, especially against a quality bowling attack like India. Very satisfied. We got one win, got to win the next game to take the series. The guys are going to come hard again,” Hope was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.

“We keep speaking about the attitude, and today we displayed that. We need to replicate that and need to be more consistent with the bat and ball. Complete performance I must say, the surface was challenging, the bowlers and batters did well. We want to be on the winning side, and if we tick all the boxes, I am pretty sure we can achieve that,” the wicketkeeper-batter asserted.
