Recently, India Cricket Team was served a ‘Cold Lunch’ after their practice session which didn’t go down well with a lot of players. They were served items such as fruits, cold sandwiches, and falafel. Apart from a few players, most players didn’t take the meal as they wanted a full-fledged meal after the practice. Notably, they sweat it out for around three hours.

After all this, the matter was taken to the World Cricket Governing Council. They are responsible for the food and logistics during the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Meanwhile, an official from the Apex Council reportedly said that they have received the complaint and will sort out the issue.

“Yes, the Indian team has told us about their issues with the food after practice. We are trying to figure it out and the issue will be sorted,” a World Cricket Governing Council source was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Players had food after reaching the hotel: Reports

On the other hand, an Indian Cricket Board official has said that the players weren’t involved in any boycott. The official said that some players did take the food on offer but the rest ate after reaching their hotel. He added that the Apex Council is not providing warm food for lunchtime. It will be interesting to see how thing pan out for the rest of the tournament.

“It’s not like any boycott. Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food after going back to the hotel,” an Indian Cricket Board official privy to the development was quoted as saying on the condition of anonymity.

“The problem is that the Apex Council isn’t providing any hot food after lunch. In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for ICC, the rule is the same for all countries,” the official further said.
