WTC 2021-23: Top five bowling spells of the cycle
1. Ajaz Patel, 10/119 vs India, Mumbai 2021
Ajaz bowled a total of 47.5 overs, allowing just 119 runs while dishing out 12 maidens, displaying great talent and accuracy. On a surface that was starting to turn, his unrelenting drive to destroy the entire Indian batting order displayed his enormous talent and control. Unfortunately, despite his outstanding effort, his other New Zealand bowlers’ lack of assistance allowed India to amass a challenging first innings total of 325 and secure a dominating lead of 263 runs. Unfazed, Ajaz maintained his stellar performance in the second innings, taking four more wickets for a total of 106 runs. However, the New Zealand squad had already lost control of the match, and India triumphed with a convincing win.
