WWE: 5 Character gimmicks that were stretched beyond their welcome
Edge vs Judgment Day
Edge and Judgment Day’s story got off to a wonderful start. Edge made his first heel turn since 2010 in February 2022. After a meandering road of tag teaming and other things, the group ultimately deserted him, and Edge lost to Finn Bálor at Extreme Rules in an “I leave” match. That’s already a long story but jump ahead to 2023, when Edge made a comeback and picked up the feud. Edge will now face Balor at WrestleMania in a tired gimmick match called Hell in a Cell. This experience has been a fantastic chance to introduce Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio to fans. In professional wrestling, factions are beneficial.
But it’s been going on way too long. Without Edge, Judgment Day is still capable of many intriguing things, and vice versa. Despite the history, the ongoing sparring with Edge feels a bit excessive, even though the conflict took a brief break. That’s not to argue that the organization should be disbanded.
