WWE: 5 Character gimmicks that were stretched beyond their welcome
Chris Jericho
Another difficult choice because Chris Jericho is a contender for WWE GOAT, particularly in light of how he carried AEW early on while promoting the younger talent around him. Jericho, meanwhile, currently feels stale in the ring. And the atmosphere around the actual fighting is even worse. It doesn’t help that the Jericho Appreciation Society is now merely idling. While Jericho deserves praise for improving Ring of Honor, that saturation also contributed to the current issues AEW is experiencing, with too many things happening at once.
Fans love Jericho for various reasons, but they also can’t help but notice how boring things have gotten. Jericho occupies that strange space. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next change because he has been a master at adapting throughout his entire career.
