After winning the three-match T20I series against England earlier this week, India was scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against them, starting from 12 July 2022. However, on the eve of the series opener, India dealt a major setback.

Virat Kohli was found to get missed the first match due to a groin injury. As expected, during the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed the news as he chose to bowl first after winning the toss. England also named a strong playing XI as Jos Buttler was looking to kick off his ODI captaincy stint with a win.

But, nothing went as per plan for Buttler and his men as Indian pacers ran a rampage over them. All top three batters of England fell cheaply as England lost three wickets for seven runs only. Next batters also failed to handle the pressure from Indian bowlers as England lost five wickets for 26 runs in just 7.5 overs. Then, England skipper Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali tried to settle the ship.

But, they both lost their wicket while England reached only 59 runs. England bowlers, while batting down the order, managed to add some crucial runs as England got bundled out for 110 runs in just 25.2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah came up with his career-best performance by picking up six wickets. He just gave 19 runs in 7.2 overs. Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna also picked up four wickets together. Indian pacers picked up all the wickets of England. It was quite surprising to see a batting collapse like England as they are known as a dangerous side, especially in the white-ball format. Even, though they are the defending champion in this 50-over format as they won the 2019 World Cup.

With this kind of disaster performance with the bat, fans came up with some hilarious tweets on their Twitter accounts to troll the batting collapse of England in this match.

Here is how fans have reacted to this batting collapse of England:
