‘You don’t have your private space’ – Sakshi Dhoni draws light on how it is to be a cricketer’s wife

Over the years, the relatives and family members of popular cricketers have unwillingly come into the news more often than not. One of the demerits of being related to a cricketer is the lack of privacy. There have been numerous occasions where the wife or a girlfriend of an Indian cricketer has unwillingly grabbed the headlines.

One such example is that of Sakshi Dhoni, who happens to be the wife of MS Dhoni. Owing to the popularity of the legend, she has also been on the news several times. She recently drew light on the side effects of being Dhoni’s wife.

She spoke about how life changes when your husband is a sports athlete. “General life changes when you get married and your husband goes to an office. But our husbands go to play sports. So I think you just have to adapt and change according to how they expect you to be and not just sort of stress them out,” said Sakshi Dhoni in a video posted by Chennai’s social media handle on women’s day

Further on, she stressed on the lack of personal space one has when they marry a cricketer. She also stated that the general public like to judge you if you are a cricketer’s wife. It is to be noted that Dhoni married Sakshi on July 4 2010. “You don’t have your private space and you cannot be like how you are basically in front of cameras right now. Some people are comfortable in front of the camera, some people are not. And especially with the public, they tend to judge you, like especially when you are a cricketer’s wife. Even when you are doing something like hanging out with friends and they do talk,” she added.

In the meanwhile, Dhoni is currently a part of Chennai’s pre-training camp in Surat. The defending champions are all set to face Kolkata in the tournament opener on March 26. Thus, it will be exciting to see the “Thala” back in action.
