Yuvraj Singh has made a huge claim on the skill sets of Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya in limited-overs cricket. The former Indian cricketer was in an interview where he talked about many things like the captaincy of India in the T20 World Cup 2024, the set of All-rounders who must be backed by India in different formats, the concern of form of some players, and so on.

Yuvraj felt that Ravichandran Ashwin was a great bowler and added that he did not deserve a place in limited-overs cricket. The former Indian batter felt that there were many better options in India in ODIs and T20s. “Ashwin is a great bowler but I don’t think he deserves a place in ODIs and T20s,” claimed Yuvraj about his former teammate.

The two were a part of the Indian team that won the ODI WC in 2011. Yuvraj would be well aware of the skills of Ashwin. Although Ashwin was brilliant even in limited-overs cricket till 2015, his numbers have not been great since then, particularly in ODIs. Yuvraj pointed out the same and added that he does not bring much value as an All-rounder in limited-overs cricket.

‘What does he bring with the bat? Or as a fielder?’ – Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj added that Ashwin is not a great fielder either. But he added that Ashwin deserves his spot in the Test team. “He is very good with the ball, but what does he bring with the bat? Or as a fielder? In the Test team, yes, he should be there. But in white-ball cricket, I don’t think he deserves a place,” Yuvraj added. The former Indian cricketer talked about the fitness of Hardik Pandya.

The former teammate of Hardik claimed that he is a player prone to injuries and needs to be handled with care. He added that the injury-prone nature of Hardik makes him not a suitable option for India as a captain in the long term. Yuvraj felt that India must look for better options in captaincy like Suryakumar Yadav and others.
