South Africa and Australia recently encountered each other in the 4th ODI match of Australia’s tour of South Africa on 15 September 2023, Friday at Centurion, South Africa. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first, and South Africa put one of the highest targets in ODIs on the board.
Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller led South Africa to a high score as they scored 174 and 82 runs off 45 and 83 deliveries with a strike rate of 209.64 and 182.22, respectively. Heinrich Klaasen smashed 13 fours and 13 huge sixes that left the spectators thrilled. The mid-order batsman Miller scored 6 fours and 5 sixes to lead South Africa to a score of 416-5.
Australia miserably failed to chase the target of 417 runs at the end of 50 overs. The team’s Alex Carey and Tim David became the highest scorers in the team by scoring 99 and 35 runs off 77 and 25 deliveries respectively, Carrey was widely appreciated for missing the century by a single. Klaasen was highly appreciated for his mind-blowing century. South Africa sealed an easy victory against Australia by 164 runs.

“I am trying to take everything in. It’s a special day, you try to take in everything. I can’t remember a lot of the innings, have to go back and probably watch it tonight. The wicket looked a little bit slow, they bowled in incredible areas. We just spoke about taking it to the 35th over and then see what happens. It got a little bit better and they went off that area and we cashed in. The ball travels nicely, we knew we could make some big damage. It’s also nice batting with David, he takes a lot of pressure off you. It was just a normal partnership for us. We thought about 320-odd and then it became 380 and then it became 400. The coach has been asking for that. The fans are incredible here, grew up at this venue, they look after me very nicely. It’s amazing for me to be here”, said Heinrich Klaasen, after being awarded as the player of the match
