‘1 din khilate hain, 3 din andar daalte hain’: Axar Patel frustrated with COVID-19 restrictions

Delhi played Punjab in the 32nd match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Delhi outplayed Punjab in all the departments in the match and won it convincingly by 9 wickets with 57 balls remaining. The whole bowling unit of Delhi looked on song as they restricted their opposition for just 115 runs in their 20 overs.
The match was not held at its original venue in MCA Stadium, Pune as the Delhi team could not travel with COVID positives in their camp. The match was thus shifted to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The players have been staying in a bio-bubble and this has been affecting the players mentally.
Axar Patel, who was an integral part of Delhi’s bowling efforts in the match against Punjab was seen venting out his frustrations on the bio-bubble restrictions. In the match, he bowled four overs picking up two wickets, conceding just 10 runs. After his brilliant exploits, he came to attend the post-match press conference and was seen speaking about the restrictions while not being aware that he was live.
Before the event started, Patel was heard saying – “Kaha maza aa raha hain, 1 din khilate hain, 3 din andar daalte hai.” His realization of being live on air came a bit too late. Notably, a few of Delhi’s overseas players like Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert along with a few of the support staff have tested positive for COVID-19, and consequently, the players have been quarantined. The all-rounder is visibly frustrated with the situation.
Speaking of his performance in the tournament, Axar has been performing decently. He has scored 78 runs in the tournament in four innings at a strike rate of over 180 and has picked up 3 wickets with an economy rate of 7.35. The team will be hoping that Patel displays his all-round capabilities in the tournament helping his team on a successful run in Indian T20 League 2022.
