3 Players Chennai might look to release ahead of Indian T20 League 2023
Chennai is considered the most consistent team in the Indian T20 League. They have nine finals and four titles to their name throughout the history of the tournament. But such a team had a torrid time in the 15th edition of the tournament. They lost 10 of their 14 matches and practically never looked like the defending champions. After such a terrible season the team will look to bring about some changes in their team.
Here is a list of players Chennai might look to release ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023.
3. Adam Milne: Adam Milne was bought by Chennai for a price of INR 1.90 Cr. But the man was able to play only a single match for the team and was then ruled out of the tournament with injury. The Kiwi pacer had also struggled with injuries earlier in his career. So, Chennai might look to release Milne and replace him with a player who could be of more use for the team for the whole duration of a tournament.
2. Tushar Deshpande: After Deepak Chahar was ruled out from the tournament, there was a lot of talk about Tushar Deshpande being the ideal replacement for him. Chennai also looked to use him as a replacement for Chahar in the initial stages of the tournament. But in the two matches that Deshpande played, he conceded 63 runs at an economy of 9 runs per over. He just picked up a single wicket in the two matches and practically never looked potent enough. It will be interesting to see if Chennai opts to back the young pacer or releases him and looks for a better option.
1. Chris Jordan: Chennai bought Chris Jordan for INR 3.60 Cr in the mega auction ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022. They tried to project him as a death-over bowler. But Jordan failed to live up to the expectations of the team. He played 4 matches in the tournament and conceded runs at a high economy of 10.52 in the matches. He was just able to pick up two wickets in the two matches. Thus Jordan might be one player Chennai might look to release and replace him with a better death bowling option.
