Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande has found himself entangled in a fake quote about Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma after CSK’s 7-wicket win over MI at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. In a viral quote, Deshpande was alleged as saying that taking the wicket of Rohit is easy as he is not someone like Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers.

In a match against MI, Deshpande cleared the stumps of Rohit on the last balls of the fourth over in the first innings to give CSK a first breakthrough. The MI skipper was looking forward to scoring big with a great start with 21 runs off 13 balls, but the good length delivery from Deshpande turned out to be unplayable for him as MI lost their first wicket at the score of 38.

‘Stop spreading fake news’ – Deshpande

However, the 27-year-old took his social media to deny the fake quote, stating that he would never make such demeaning statements for the legends of the game. He also urged the fans not to spread any fake news, and to show respect to all the players. “I have absolute respect for all the legends mentioned above. I did not, and would not, make any such demeaning statements. Stop spreading fake news,” Deshpande wrote on his Instagram story.

Talking about the match, MI lost their second consecutive game of the season while CSK registered back-to-back wins after losing their first game to the defending champions Guajrat Titans. Batting first, MI posted a total of 157 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Ishan Kishan was the highest scorer for the home team with 32 runs off 21 balls. Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets for CSK conceding 20 runs in his four overs.

In reply, CSK chased the winning total by losing 3 wickets in 18.1 overs, powered by the fiery knock of Ajinkya Rahane who got out after smashing 61 runs off 27 balls, while Ruturaj Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 40 off 36 and Ambati Rayadu finished the game with a boundary as CSK won the match with 11 balls to spare.
