The India squads for all the series against South Africa are out. India will be playing South Africa in all the three formats in December 2023 and January 2024. The star players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be featuring in only one format. As the senior players have asked for the rest from the Indian Cricket Board, they will be representing India in only Test cricket. On the other hand, there have been some surprising exclusions. Some of the senior players have faced snubs.
The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and Ajinkya Rahane have been dropped from the Indian Test squad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been snubbed from the limited overs squad. There have been some interesting calls in selection of leadership for the tour. Ravindra Jadeja has been named the T20I vice-captain, despite not playing any T20I match in more than 2 years. There are very few players who will feature in all the three squads of India for the tour of South Africa.
Here are 3 players who feature in Indian squads in all three formats against South Africa.
3. Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar had a very good IPL for Delhi Capitals in 2023. The right-arm pacer was one of the best bowlers for his team in the tournament. In the death overs, Mukesh executed his skills very well, which impressed many. Most importantly, Mukesh was able to impress the Indian selectors, who picked him in the Indian Test squad for the series against West Indies earlier this year. The 30-year-old was picked in the ODI and T20I squads against West Indies in the tour.
In the process, the Indian pacer became one of the fewest cricketers to make his debut in all the formats in the same tour. After the tour, India played some of the big tournaments like the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023. For the big tournaments, Mukesh was not picked. After the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, India was set to play Australia in T20Is. Mukesh was picked for the series. He has been picked for all the formats against South Africa by the selectors.
