Apart from his glories with his all teams, he also won some top-individual awards. In 2008, he won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. In the same year, Dhoni won the ODI Player of the Year honour from the Governing body of Cricket.
In 2009, he was honoured with India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri. During that same year, MS Dhoni became the first player to win the ODI player of the year award twice. The Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel on Dhoni in 2011. In 2018, he received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honour.
