Ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022, the Delhi franchise bought him for Rs. 10.75 crore. The franchise was hopeful with his all-round abilities with both the bat and ball. However, in that season, Shardul Thakur scored 120 runs in 14 matches while he picked up 15 wickets also. Still, he was not even in any scheme of things for the T20I format.

Now, he even did not get a chance in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Selectors did not even consider him as a stand-by player. For India, Shardul has played 25 matches so far in the T20I format. In those matches, he has taken 33 wickets along with 69 runs in six innings.
