After having a dismal show in Asia Cup 2022, India is going to play two three-match T20I series against Australia and South Africa respectively. On 12 September, Indian selectors announced the final squads for the 20-20 World Cup, and these series. Mohammed Shami was one of the stand-by players for the World Cup.
While India selected him as an option in those series. But, on 17 September, the news came that he got infected with Covid-19. Hence, Board announced that veteran pacer Umesh Yadav will replace him. But, fans were not happy as there are many players who could have easily replaced Shami instead of Yadav.

Mohammed Siraj
This bowler is currently busy playing the County Championship Division One in England for Warwickshire. He also showed great performance by taking five wickets in the first match. But, in the shortest format of the game, he last played against Sri Lanka on 27 February 2022 in Dharamsala.
However, in the last edition of the Indian T20 League, Mohammed Siraj did not have a great season for his franchise. Still, he managed to produce some good performances in the recently concluded ODI series in England, West Indies, and Zimbabawe. Thus, selectors could look at him as an option instead of Umesh Yadav.
