This young wicketkeeper batter has shown his dominance in the longest and 50-over format of the game. But, in T20Is, he still failed to play some valuable knocks for his team. Even, in the Asia Cup, he failed to grab whatever opportunities he got. In this tournament, he played only three innings. In those innings, he scored 51 runs at an average of 25.50.
Fans were not happy as he failed to convert his starts into big scores every time. He threw his wickets more rather than opponents trying their hard to pick him. Several reports were there also that Sanju Samson and Dinesh Karthik might get the final call-up ahead of him. But, India went with only Pant and Karthik for the 20-20 World Cup.
