Axar Patel
Another name that shocked fans in that final squad is Axar Patel. This player was not even in the plan for the recently concluded Asia Cup. In that tournament, he was one of the reserves only. When Ravindra Jadeja got ruled out due to injury, then he joined the team as a replacement. However, he played against Afghanistan.
Axar failed to take a single wicket by conceding 24 runs in four overs. Therefore, fans were not expecting to see him in the final squad. Although, fans were expecting to see him as a stand-by player again as Jadeja was set to be ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup. But, selectors considered him in the final squad for the World Cup.
