‘5th title loading’ – Fans react as Chennai Super Kings defeat Delhi Capitals by 27 runs
After winning the last fixture against five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram, in Chennai on Wednesday, May 10. Super Kings won the match by 27 runs and Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant all-round performance.
Talking about the game, CSK skipper, MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. The home side while batting first scored a total of 167 runs with the loss of eight wickets. The highest scorer for the side was Shivam Dube, who scored 25 runs from 12 balls which included three sixes in his innings. In the end, Dhoni scored 20 runs in just nine balls with two sixes and a four.

For DC, the pick of the bowler was star Australia all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh who snapped three wickets in his spell of three overs where he conceded 18 runs in his spell. Two wickets were grabbed by Axar Patel in his spell of four overs where he conceded 27 runs in his spell, One wicket each was bagged by Khaleel Ahmed, Lalit Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav in their respective spells where they conceded 32 runs, 34 runs, and 28 runs respectively.
DC while chasing a target of 168 runs, was able to score just 140 runs in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was Rilee Roussow, who scored 35 runs from 37 balls with two fours and a six. The pick of the bowler for CSK was Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathiran who took three wicket in his spell while concededing 37 runs in his spell of four overs.
“As a spinner, feels good when the ball is turning and holding. We practise here, we know what’s the ideal length and pace. The visiting team needs time to adapt. We are taking advantage of the home conditions. Everyone’s doing their job. We are doing a good job collectively. (On batting higher) I keep hearing Mahi bhai’s chants. If I bat higher, then the crowd will wait for me to get out. As long as the team wins, I am happy,” Jadeja was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
