Twitter reactions: Gujarat Choke Delhi to win second consecutive game

In the ninth match of the Indian T20 League 2022, Gujarat took on Delhi at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Pune. The chase from Delhi promised that the game would be a close one, but it turned out to be a much tame affair than expected.
Delhi won the toss and the skipper Rishabh Pant decided that they will field first. Gujarat was rocked at the very beginning of their innings as Matthew Wade was dismissed in the very first over. Shubman Gill stayed strong at the crease and continued with the good start that he got. He was joined by the captain; Hardik Pandya and they stitched a healthy partnership of 65 runs for the team. Hardik was dismissed for 31 off 27 deliveries by Khaleel Ahmed. Gill however continued and scored 84 off 46 deliveries. With the help of contributions from Miller and Tewatia Gujarat reached a total of 171 runs in 20 overs. Mustafizur Rehman, playing his first match of the season for Delhi was their pick of the bowlers picking up 3 wickets for 23 runs from his 4 overs.
Coming out to chase a target of 172 runs Delhi started in the worst way possible. They lost three wickets within 5 overs and had only 34 runs on the board. From there on Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav built a 61 runs partnership. Lalit was unfortunately run out for 25 off 22 deliveries. Rishabh Pant looked calm and intent on finishing the match for the team. But that did not happen as Lockie Ferguson dismissed him for 43 from 29 deliveries in the 15th over. Delhi at this stage had 118 runs on the board. Rovman Powell was the last hope for Dehi. But he also fell to Mohammed Shami scoring 20 off 11 deliveries. With this Gujarat put the final nail in the coffin of Delhi. Delhi ultimately finished with a score of 157 runs and lost the match by 14 runs. Gujarat won their second of the tournament in as many matches and are looking like a team that is well sorted.
