Lucknow took on Delhi in the 15th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. The venue of the match was the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Lucknow won the toss and skipper KL Rahul decided that they will field first. Delhi had the added impetus in their batting in the form of David Warner. The opening partnership of the team did give them a good start but it was Prithvi Shaw who did most of the scoring. The opening stand was of 67 runs of which Shaw scored 61 runs. He was dismissed by Krishnappa Gowtham in the 8th over of the innings.  He faced 34 deliveries in his knock. After Shaw was dismissed, Warner soon followed. His stay at the crease was rather miserable as he scored just 4 runs off 12 deliveries. The Delhi innings lost its momentum after the dismissal of Shaw. The batters were not finding it easy to middle the ball and were struggling to score runs fluently. But Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan decided that they will fight out till the end. The duo stitched a 75 runs partnership and stayed not out till the 20th over. Pant scored 39 off 26 and Sarfraz scored 36 off 28 deliveries. Delhi finished with a total of 149 runs. The pick of the bowlers for Lucknow was Ravi Bishnoi with 2 wickets from his 4 overs conceding just 22 runs.

Lucknow was steady to start with their chase. Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul gave them a solid start. The duo put up a partnership of 73 runs within the 10th over of the innings. KL Rahul was the first wicket to fall for Lucknow. He was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 24 runs off 25 deliveries. Evin Lewis (5 off 13) did not last long at the crease but de Kock continued with his brilliant start. After the end of the fifteenth over Lucknow was 111 for 2 needing 39 runs of 30 balls. Anrich Nortje was forced to be taken off the attack after bowling two beamers in the innings. As a result, Kuldeep Yadav was required to complete the 16th over. He was smashed for 11 runs in the over but he picked up the all important wicket of Quinton de Kock. De Kock played a brilliant knock of 80 runs off 52 deliveries. After this Lucknow suddenly lost momentum and the batters looked uncomfortable in the middle. The pressure was released in the 19th over as 14 runs came off it. In the last over of the innings 5 runs were required with Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya at the crease. Although Thakur picked up a wicket of the first ball of the 20th over, the young Ayush Badoni kept his composure and hit a 4 and a 6 in the 3rd and 4th ball of the over , taking his team to victory. Lucknow won the match by 6 wickets with two balls to spare.
