Twitter Reactions: Delhi thrash Rajasthan to boost playoff qualification
Rajasthan and Delhi faced off in the 58th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. With the pitches slowing down one more match was witnessed by the fans where the bowlers played a big role in shaping the fate of the match.
Delhi won the toss in the match and decided to field first. The Delhi bowlers started well as they got the wicket of in-form Jos Buttler early in the third over. Rajasthan used Ravichandran Ashwin once again as number three and once again he repaid the faith, his franchise showed in him. He stitched a partnership of 43 runs with Yashashvi Jaiswal and steadied the Rajasthan ship. Jaiswal was the second wicket to fall for the Men in Pink in the ninth over of the innings for a team score of 54 runs. Ashwin was joined by Devdutt Padikkal and the duo laid the foundation for their team to reach an above-par total. They formed a partnership of 53 runs and took the score to 107 runs in the 15th over. Ashwin was dismissed at this stage after he played a steady and resilient knock of 50 runs from 38 balls.
Debdutt Padikkal played till the 19th over, scoring 48 runs off 30 balls. Ashwin and Padikkal’s efforts helped Rajasthan reach a total of 160 runs from their 20 overs. Chetan Sakariya was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi as he piked up two wickets for 23 runs from his 4 overs. Mitchell Marsh and Anrich Nortje also contributed with two wickets each.
Delhi’s chase was rocked early as Srikar Bharat (0 of 2) was dismissed in the very first over of the innings. After this it seemed like luck left the Rajasthan camp. David Warner who was finding it difficult to get going fluently got three reprieves, while the bails did not dislodge in one occasion , one DRS which could have seen his back was not taken and a catch was also dropped. Thus he was able to accompany Mitchell Marsh in a match-winning partnership. While Warner was grinding at one end, Marsh was looking fluent and in prime touch at the other. At the end of the 15th over Delhi was coasting towards the target at 114 for 1. They needed 47 runs from 30 balls and with nine wickets in hand the equation looked pretty easy.
Mitchell Marsh was ultimately dismissed in the 18th over of the match after he played a brilliant knock of 89 runs from 62 balls. He hit five fours and seven sixes and nearly sealed the deal for his team before walking back . The partnership between Warner and Marsh worth 144 runs and got Delhi to the doorsteps of win. The skipper of the Delhi Rishabh Pant walked out in to the middle and quickened the inevitable. He scored 13 off 4 deliveries, while Warner remained unbeaten after playing a gutsy knock of 53 runs off 41 deliveries. Delhi won the match by eight wickets and 11 deliveries remaining. With the win Delhi inch closer to the playoffs with six wins in twelve matches, while Rajasthan lost their fifth match in 12 outings.

As it turns out #RR have wasted one of their two best batsmen by keeping him for the end. Need to find 160-165 now.

If Chahal were to buy a lottery ticket today, he would get the winning number but discover that the ticket had been stolen on his way to claiming it…..
Could well have won the game for #RR by now…..

Mitch Marsh must hope his body supports him for the next 2-3 years. In the form he is in, and with the ability he has, he could turn many matches around…like he has today.

Funny, but the best part of that Mitch Marsh innings was the restraint.
In spite of those 7 sixes, it was the restraint. How he rocked back and cut the spinners for singles. Didn't overdo it.
