Bangalore faced Lucknow in the Eliminator of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The ‘Prince of Kolkata’ and the current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was present in the stands watching the match. There have been rumors of a rift between Ganguly and the star Indian batter Virat Kohli. The rumors date back to the time when BCCI allegedly asked Kohli to relinquish the captaincy of the Indian team in limited-overs cricket. But as it seems in a video that has gone viral on the Internet of Sourav Ganguly appreciating a shot from Kohli, the rift was only a rumor.

Bangalore was batting first in the Eliminator at Kolkata being invited by the winning skipper KL Rahul to do so. Kohli faced the first ball of the innings and of the mark by a playing an aerial shot for three runs. However, they lost Faf du Plessis in the over and received a shock at the start. KL Rahul handed the second over to Dushmantha Chameera who had earlier dismissed Kohli for a golden duck in the previous encounter of the two teams.

This time though Kohli did not let the bowler dominate him. As Chameera bowled a delivery on the pads Kohli played a classic flick shot through the midwicket region for a four. The camera immediately panned to Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary sitting together. Jay Shah immediately applauded the shot and said something to the BCCI president, at which the latter expressed his delight.

Speaking of the match on the back of a brilliant century by Rajat Patidar (112 off 54 balls), Bangalore posted a huge total of 207 runs on the board in their 20 overs. While defending the total the bowler held their nerves at the crunch situations and got them over the line. Bangalore won the match by 14 runs and remained alive in the tournament. They will be now taking on Rajasthan in Qualifier 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
