‘A convincing win for India’ – Fans Congratulate As India Thrash Afghanistan By 101 runs In Asia Cup 2022

In the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, India took on Afghanistan in Dubai on 8 September 2022. Speaking of both teams, both of them got ruled out of this year’s final with one match to go. Both these teams lost against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the ‘Super Four’. Hence, they locked horns with each other in a dead rubber with the hope to win the tournament on a high.

However, fans became surprised after seeing KL Rahul as the captain of the side. He came up for the toss in place of Rohit Sharma. Nabi won the toss and Afghanistan asked India to bat first. However, India made three changes in their playing XI from the last match. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli came out to open the innings.

Both the openers started with some cracking shots. India scored 100 runs in just 11.2 overs. KL Rahul scored a valuable 62 runs off 41 balls. But, Virat Kohli continued his good form in this tournament. Since 2019, he has failed to score a hundred across all formats for India. But, he made sure that the end is over for his fans. Virat scored his first-ever T20I ton against Afghanistan. He remained not out on 122* runs off 61 balls, including 12 fours and six over-boundaries. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 200. With this ton, he has now tied with Ricky Ponting with 71 centuries in the international arena. It helped India to score 212 runs by losing two wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, Afghanistan batters failed miserably against the Indian bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took five wickets by conceding only four runs in four overs. Other bowlers also ran a riot on Afghan batters. Only Ibrahim Zadran remained not out on 64 runs off 59 balls. Afghanistan managed to score only 111 runs by losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, India ended their Asia Cup campaign with a massive win of 101 runs. After this win, fans also showered their praise for the team.
