It is always said that the players must be aware of their surrounding like a hawk. Over the years, there have been many players who have displayed great awareness on the field. One such instance was seen in the ongoing Women’s Big bash League 2022. In the game number six between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars, Sophie Ecclestone showed her great sense of awareness.

In the 17th over of Stars’ innings, Tess Flintoff tried to play a drive against a full delivery from Ecclestone. The former didn’t time it well and the ball went straight to the non-striking end. Notably, the batter took a few steps to pick a single but didn’t get back on time. In the nick of time, the England international, Sophie directed a hit on the stumps at the striking end.

The Stars’ batter was caught napping and was adjudged run-out. This was indeed a great display of the left-arm spinner for the UK. The video of the incident is going viral on social media.

Talking about the game, the Pink Brigade (Sixers) batted first and scored 147/6 at the end of the innings. Alyssa Healy scored 43 and was the highest scorer for the team. On the other hand, players such as skipper Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, and Erin Burns failed to cross the 30-run mark. For Green Brigade, Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland took two wickets each. Also, the likes of Tess Flintoff and Alice Capsey took one wicket each.

In reply, the Melbourne-base team failed to chase down the target and lost the game by 27 runs. Openers, Lauren Winfield and Bess Heath stitched a partnership of 50 runs in seven overs to provide a good platform. However, the team kept losing regular wickets which is why they were all-out for 120 runs. Seven batters failed to cross the double-digit mark.
