Former India vice-captain in Tests, Ajinkya Rahane has hit a double hundred in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game against Hyderabad. The right-hander has been out of the national side since the South Africa tour early this year. Ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka, Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were dropped after repeated failures with the bat for a period of time.

While the latter has made his comeback in the team and hit his Test hundred after 47 months, Rahane is still out of the team. Meanwhile, the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy-winning skipper is leading the Mumbai side in the ongoing Raji Trophy. In the ongoing game against Hyderabad, the former India vice-captain has hit a double hundred. In the game, the visitors won the toss and elected to field first.

However, the decision turned out to be a nightmare for them as the 41-time winner, Mumbai amassed 457/3 on Day One. In the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a ton while Suryakumar Yadav (90) missed out. On the other hand, Rahane scored another ton in first-class cricket. In the ongoing day two of the game, the 34-year-old extended his innings and went on to score 204 runs in just 261 balls.

This includes 26 fours and three sixes and got out soon after getting his double hundred. The fans rejoiced after watching the 82-Test veteran score a double ton.
