Gautam Gambhir gives epic reaction to KL Rahul’s slow know knock against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023
In such a high-scoring IPL season, Lucknow Super Giants were in line for an easy victory on Saturday at home against Gujarat Titans, who were the reigning champions. With eight wickets in hand and a well-positioned KL Rahul at the crease, who had already made another half-century in IPL 2023, LSG needed 30 runs off the remaining five overs. LSG, however, suffered a seven-run loss as a result of skilful bowling in the slog overs, which ultimately led to that unbelievable effort from the seasoned Mohit Sharma in the last over. LSG lost horribly at home after an unbelievable collapse in which they lost four successive wickets.
The LSG team mentor, Gautam Gambhir responded after the game, and his post quickly went viral on social media. The former India cricketer was left powerless in the dugout after LSG upset RCB at Chinnaswamy just a week before. He had erupted in wild jubilation at that time. Despite this, the photo capture revealed Gambhir’s dejected expression during Rahul’s slow 68 runs off 61 balls.

I still wanted to play my shots, and take on the bowlers: KL Rahul
In contrast to his earlier IPL 2023 innings, which drew harsh criticism for his strike rate, Rahul had attacked the powerplay with intent. In the first six overs, he faced 19 balls and scored 30 runs, but in the following 42 deliveries, he scored just 38 runs. He was ultimately out on the second ball of the last over, while attempting to pull Mohit’s shorter pitch for a six over square leg.
“We were well ahead in the game and I wasn’t really trying to bat deep, I still wanted to play my shots, take on the bowlers, but they bowled well in that 2-3 over period, by Noor and Jayant, we perhaps should have taken a few more chances with wickets in hand, they bowled decently, but I think we missed out on some boundary opportunities, the pressure got to us in the last 3-4 overs, we played well until then. They did bowl well though,” Rahul was quoted as saying after the loss.
