‘Conway ka credit bhi le gye Thala’ – Fans react as MS Dhoni smashes consecutive sixes on last 2 balls against Sam Curran
The 41st match of the Indian Premier League 2023 is being played between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, April 30. PBKS begin their campaign in style by winning their opening two games but since then, they have managed only two wins out of six.
Meanwhile, the fans in Chepauk got their wish fulfilled as they got to see the former legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni play. The wicketkeeper-batter came to bat in the last over of the first innings and smashed two back-to-back sixes against Sam Curran who was bowling the final over of the innings. Curran bowled a slower short ball outside off in the fifth ball, Dhoni slapped it over backward point for six and in the last ball, Curran bowled a full toss, Dhoni deposited it over midwicket.

Brilliant batting performance by CSK batters
However, talking about the match, CSK won the toss and opted to bat first. And as usual, openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway provided a great start and stitched a wonderful 86-run stand for the first wicket before Gaikwad departed after scoring 37 runs. CSK surprised everyone by sending Shivam Dube at no.3 which is Ajinkya Rahane’s regular place.
However, Conway continued to score runs at a good pace and kept the scoreboard ticking. But, the Pacers did a decent job for PBKS toward the end of the innings. However, with the help of Dhoni’s cameo, CSK managed to touch the 200-run mark. With the twin sixes, Dhoni became the second batter ever to amass 1000 runs in the 20th over in T20 cricket. The only other batter to have ever achieved the four-figure mark is former West Indies and Mumbai Indians batter Kieron Pollard. 709 of Dhoni’s runs in the 20th over came in IPL which stands top of the list in the tournament followed by Pollard’s 405.
