England quick Jofra Archer has been declared out of the remaining IPL 2023, dealing a serious blow to Mumbai Indians before their crucial match versus Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chris Jordan, an English pacer, has taken his spot. At an economy rating of 9.50, Archer has only taken two wickets in his five outings for the Mumbai Indians.
A report from last month claimed that an English seamer had seen a Belgian elbow specialist and undergone a modest surgical treatment. The elbow that has given him trouble repeatedly over the past two years was the same one that prevented him from playing in the T20 World Cup, Ashes, or the English summer of 2021 due to a stress fracture.
Due to elbow and back ailments that both placed his career in peril, Archer took nearly two years off from international cricket before making a comeback earlier this year. Jordan was not purchased at the December IPL auction despite having previously played for the England Cricket Board, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings.
Jordan who is an England cricket team veteran, who made his IPL bow in 2016, has taken 27 wickets in 28 IPL games thus far. The quick bowler has 96 T20I wickets to his name and has played 87 T20Is for England. Jordan last participated in the Indian Premier League in 2022, when he took two dismissals in four games for the Chennai Super Kings.

Mumbai Indians posted on their social media handle today morning before their crucial game against Royal Challengers Bangalore confirming the news by stating that, “ . Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.”
