‘Tu cricketer he hai naa’ – Fans react after Aakash Chopra slams Suyash Sharma for preventing Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hundred in RR vs KKR match
Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra doesn’t seem to be happy with the Kolkata Knight Riders Suyash Sharma as he deliberately tried to bowl a wide ball during the IPL 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals to prevent Yashasvi Jaiswal from scoring a century. The RR batter played a splendid knock of 98 runs off 47 balls as they registered a dominating victory over KKR by 9 wickets in match number 56 of the season.
During the last ball of the 13th over of the innings while chasing 150 runs, RR still needed three runs to win with the skipper Sanju Samson. Jaiswal was at the non-strike on 94 runs and needed a six to complete his century. After that, Suyash fired down leg to Samson, but the RR skipper moves to the leg side and defended the ball so that Jaiswal could complete his hundred in the next over. However, Jaiswal couldn’t reach the triple figures but he finished the game with a boundary as RR chased the winning total with 41 balls to spare.
After the match, Aakash Chopra took on his Twitter to take a dig at Suyash for preventing Jaiswal from scoring a century. He wrote, “Trying to bowl a wide to prevent Yashasvi from getting to his 100….poor taste IMHO.”
RR jumped to third spot with their sixth win of the season
Talking about the match, RR jumped to the third position after a one-sided victory over KKR at Eden Gardens. Batting first, KKR posted a total of 149 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, powered by the half-century by Venkatesh Iyer. Meanwhile, RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal scalped 4 wickets by conceding 25 runs in his four overs. With this, the 32-year-old became the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, with 187 wickets to his name.
Chasing the winning total, Jaiswal gave a flying start to RR by smashing 26 runs of the very first over of the innings by the KKR skipper Nitish Rana. After that, Jaiswal and Samson put up an unbeaten partnership of 121 runs for the second wicket as RR registered their sixth win of the season.
Deliberately bowling wide ball is wrong and should be called but what is your opinion on batsman playing dot ball so that strike change and other batsman could score 100?? Is that not wrong, has happened many times in international & in IPL too.

Sanju Samson was batting at 48*
Jaiswal was at 94*Very bad of Suyash Sharma to not care about both batsman's milestones.
Actually it's all KKR fault.. they should have scored atleast 8 more runs.

You being an ex-cricketer and expert; have bigger responsibility than the fans to speak, write, and share what is 'right' for the game.
Instead of pointing out such things, you should set an example for others to know that ‘Personal milestones and Stats’ have no value. Yes we…

Suyas in the whole last over was having a smirk and cunningness in his face , that was clear wide ball plan based on how he tried to bowl and release it, if so its so unbecoming of a player, he needs to come through domestic Groth to understand professionalism maybe

I don't understand this logic it's bowler choice.
Imagine team needed 40 run in 1 ball loss is sure.
And they are already 9 wicket down and bowler is on hatrick .
Will the last batsman going to give his wicket
purposely, if not then why should only bowler show gentleman game.— Strongest Wind (@ExtraCooIing) May 12, 2023
Always form micro battles within a bigger clash. Preventing a 100 is a micro battle.
Enticing a batter to play a widish ball to score his 100 n in turn risk his wicket is fair game.
Do batters go easy on bowlers n gift with wickets n dots helping them achieve milestones?

Exactly… doing wide already shows bowler is not a good one(generally) n doing it intentionally shows the criminal nature of the bowler n the captain! Expected better from Suyash- though his bowling is good, too over confident, too early it seems! Let’s hope for everyone’s best!

The same was done by RR in the last match when no ball was balled so that if opposition doesn't score six then they get another chance to hit six same was done when world class all rounder jasson holder balled three easy and slow fulltoss to hit them for six, sab dikhta hai akash
