‘Neela pada pile par bhaari’ – Fans react as MI Cape Town register convincing victory over Joburg Super Kings by 98 runs in SA20 clash
MI Cape Town has registered a comfortable win against the Joburg Super Kings in the ongoing SA20 league. After winning the toss the Super Kings put the MI Cape Town to bat first. Unfortunately, MI went on to score 243 runs at the loss of five wickets. One of their batters, Rassie van der Dussen scored a century while Ryan Rickelton, their keeper, scored 98 runs off 49 balls. All of their batters played extremely well. They started targeting the bowlers from the first over and that acted as an added pressure on the Super Kings team.
However, the Super Kings team didn’t have a good day. They lost the match by 98 runs. Neither the bowlers nor the batters played well. Lous du Pooly (48) tried to hold the innings for a really good amount of time but didn’t get support from the other end. The Joburg Super Kings batting line-up shattered like cards.
The Super Kings were the runners-up in the last season of the SA20. This year, the first match was washed out which gave them two points. However, if they continue to play like this, they might get eliminated from the first round itself.
I was a bit surprised: Faf du Plessis
As the match ended on a not-so-good note for the Joburg Super Kings, Captain Faf du Plessis was even more surprised at the turn of events which happened for the team. They did not expect the batters to throw away their wickets at every interval. He also mentioned the fact that they thought chasing would be easy but as the innings proceeded, the players came under pressure and couldn’t perform well.
“I was a bit surprised. I thought it would be a little bit more stickier and the first over that Moeen bowled I knew the ball was coming on nicely. First game of the competition, at one stage it felt we would be chasing 300 but towards our credit, there was some better bowling at the end. Always under pressure chasing such a target and there were a lot of dismissals as well”, said du Plessis at the post-match presentation.

The only concern for MICT this game will be how Brevis, Pollard, Livingstone and SCurran could only take them to 243 after being 200 in 15 overs.
If any two of those 4 can find some form moving forward no other team looks as strong as @MICapeTown. #SA20 #JSKvMICT
