‘Windies ne hara diya goro ko’ – Fans react as West Indies defeats Australia in 3rd T20 match by 37 runs

West Indies defeated Australia in the 3rd T20 match.

In the 3rd T20 match, West Indies defeated Australia by 37 runs. The visitors posted a total of 221 runs against Australia. Even though the target was huge, Australians gave their best to chase the score, but the batters couldn’t manage to keep the momentum going throughout the second innings and thus. Thus, the Aussies lost the match by just 37 runs.

West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first. The first half of their innings didn’t look like they could reach 100 runs as the openers went early and then they lost their middle-order batters as well. However, the match turned in West Indies’ favour after Sherfane Rutherford and Andre Russell came to the crease. Both the batters scored half centuries helping their team reach a huge score of 221 runs. Rutherford scored 67 runs while Russell scored 71 runs. All the Aussie bowlers got one wicket each while Xavier Bartlett took two wickets.

When the hosts came to chase, it seemed like they’d chase the mammoth total, but failed drastically. Out of all the batters, David Warner stood out and scored 81 runs off 49 balls. The rest of the team except Tim David (41) couldn’t touch the 20-run mark. Romario Shephard and Roston Chase took two wickets each while Akeal Hosein got one wicket. Moreover, for his splendid performance, Andre Russell got the Player of the Match award.

‘It’s time for them to do the job’ – David Warner backs the youngsters

David Warner played his last international innings for Australia in Australia where he scored 71 runs off 49 balls. It was a wonderful innings as he helped the team almost reach the target. Moreover, during the post-match presentation, Warner said his job is done and now the youngsters will take on from where he left off.

At the post-match presentation, Warner said, “Good to see the boys play. I’ve got a lot of time off after the next series in New Zealand before the IPL and then to get ready for the T20 World Cup. It’s great to spend quality time with my kids and just be home. I was surprised that an opening bowler bowling 145+ wasn’t trying to get me out. The boundaries aren’t too big in the Caribbean. I’m well and truly done, we’ve got so many youngsters, it’s time for them to do the job.”
