After the completion of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday, May 29, India will lock horns with Australia in the final of the Test Championship, which is scheduled to take place from June 7 to June 11 at The Oval, in Southampton. This will be the second consecutive Test Championship Final for the Indian side.

For the World Test Championship Final, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik will don the commentator’s box once more. Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Nasser Hussain, and Kumar Sangakkara are among the notable names on the commentary panel for the grand final in England, and Karthik is one of them.

Is Dinesh Karthik’s cricketing career over?

Dinesh Karthik made an unusual addition to the commentary team for the 2021 World Test Championship Final after team India fell to New Zealand in the tournament’s first final that year in Southampton. In the English summer of 2021, Karthik made his commentary debut and quickly won over a large number of admirers all across the world with his insightful technical analysis and hilarious storytelling.

For Sky Sports, which will predominantly broadcast the Test series in England and the UK along with the legend of games for International Cricket, Dinesh Karthik will also be seen commentating during the Ashes in 2023. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batter will be the lone Indian participant on the Ashes 2023 commentary team. In June and July, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval will all host games in the five-game Ashes series. Australian cricketers now hold the Ashes after winning the series 4-0 in 2021–2022.

Many believe that Dinesh Karthik’s career in cricket may be coming to an end because he would miss the TNPL 2023 in order to join the commentary team for the Ashes 2023. Only 140 runs were scored by the Royal Challengers Bangalore finisher for his team in 13 IPL games this season. Throughout the entire season, he was unable to play a single match-winning knock.

Here’s how fans reacted after coming across that Dinesh Karthik is returning back to commentary:
