Against all expectations, India surprised everyone in the second ODI in the West Indies tour of India by opening with Rishabh Pant. When KL Rahul was said to return to the team at the toss, everyone was convinced that he would open the innings. Instead, Rishabh Pant walked out to bat with Rohit Sharma.

This experiment was not successful for India as Pant was dismissed at 18 in 34 balls. He felt to Odean Smith in the 12th over of the first innings. He looked disappointed after getting out, and the fans expected him to be devastated in the dressing room. But, he was seen lying on the sides of the boundary with Nitin Patel and Deepak Chahar. This gave fans a chance to troll him.

He was captured on camera while lying next to the boundary, and Twitter irrupted with people joining into troll him. “Aag lage basti mein, Pant bhaiya apni masti mein,” a tweet read.

A user compared an older photo of Yuzvendra Chahal to the one in question and said, “Every masterpiece has its cheap copy.”

A user hilariously suggested that Pant looks relaxed as if he scored 100 runs from 20 balls.

This was the first time Rishabh Pant opened an innings at the highest level. However, he has opened for India u-19 in the past, when Rahul Dravid was the junior team’s head coach. This time too Rahul Dravid could have had an influence on this decision.

On the other hand, KL Rahul had a good outing in the middle-order. He played an important knock when India lost early wickets. Along with Suryakumar Yadav, he stabilized the innings. He scored 49 runs in 48 balls before he was involved in an unfortunate run-out.
