‘Ab jab match nhi jeet paa rhe to yehi sb krna padega na’ – Bangalore’s Ellyse Perry cleans up dug out after their loss to Mumbai
Australian batter Ellyse Perry won the hearts of the fans once again, but not with her batting this time. Perry was seen clearing the mess near the dugout during the Women’s T20 League match against Mumbai. She presumably does this after every match and maintains the cleanliness in the dugout.
Perry plays for the Bangalore franchise in the ongoing season of the Women’s T20 League. The franchise bought her for INR 1.7 crore in the 2023 auction. The 32-year-old has scored 195 runs from the five matches and currently is the second-highest run-getter of the tournament so far. She averages 48.75 for Bangalore with a strike rate of 137.32 including two fifties.
Despite her clinical performances, Perry hasn’t been able to win a single game for her franchise in the tournament. Bangalore have lost all their five matches so far and are almost out from the race of getting into the top three. Bangalore haven’t been able to give a fight to opponents other than the last game against Delhi where they lost the close game with two remaining.
Bowling is the main concern for Bangalore
The main concern for Bangalore is their bowling in the tournament so far. They have conceded 200 runs two times, while defending the target against Mumbai and UP as they scored the winning runs with the run rate of more than 10 in both matches.
In their last game against the Delhi franchise at the DY Patil stadium, Bangalore posted a total of 150 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, powered by Perry’s 67 not out off 52 balls. Perry scored her back-to-back fifty with four fours and five sixes. Apart from her Richa Ghosh also batted fiercely by scoring 37 runs off 16 balls including three fours and two sixes.
Defending the total, the Bangalore bowlers gave a tough fight to the Delhi batter as Meghan Schutt removed the inform Shafali Verma for a golden duck. Skipper also couldn’t do much as she was removed by Asha Shobana after 15 off 19. After that Alice Capsey and Jemimah played short but impactful innings that got Delhi closer to Bangalore’s total. Capsey scored 38 off 24 with eight boundaries, while Rodrigues got out after scoring 32 off 28 with three boundaries. Marizanna Kapp (32 off 32) and Jess Jonassen (29 off 15) put up an unbeaten partnership of 45 runs for the fifth wicket with and won the game for Delhi in the last over with 6 wickets remaining.
Bangalore now take on UP in their next match on Wednesday where they will be looking to get their first win of the tournament. They are currently at the fifth position in the points table.

[…] Perry said at the end of Day 1, “It was just a great tussle.” “Importantly, it was a nice way for us to finish at the end there, after a pretty tricky session after the rain delay.” “If both teams look at it, I think they’d be pretty happy with today in different areas, and then there’s probably other areas where one team got the upper hand over the other. So yeah, I think that’s a great day of Test cricket, if it looks like that.” […]
