‘Accha khasa mood kharab ho gaya’ – Fans react as India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match ends without result due to rain interruption

The Asia Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan ended without a result in Pallekele. With so much to play, the eventual result of the match had no outcome. As expected, the rain had the last laugh in the end. There was more than a 90% chance of rain having a say on the match. Eventually, the rain became the winner, as both the dugouts had disappointed towards the end.
There was some good action in the match though. India won the toss and elected to bat first in overcast conditions. On a slow wicket, after the interruption of the rain, India lost its top four batters in quick time. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer were dismissed in quick time. As a result, India was reduced to 66/4 at one stage. A wicket from there would have put India in deep trouble.
That was when Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya showed what they were capable of. The left-right combination worked well for India, as the duo put on a 138-run partnership for the fifth wicket. While Ishan Kishan scored 82 runs in 81 deliveries, Hardik impressed everyone with his 87(90). As a result, India managed to score 266 runs in their innings. For Pakistan, the pace trio shined with the ball.
Rain has the last laugh in the epic clash
Shaheen Afridi claimed 4.35 in his 10 overs including a couple of maiden overs. Naseem Shah claimed 3 wickets and conceded only 36 runs in 8.5 overs. Haris Rauf claimed 3 wickets in 9 overs and conceded 58 runs. As the Indian innings ended, the rain interrupted and damaged the mood of the players and the fans. It rained, rained and rained till the game had to be washed out.
The ground staff did their best and attempted to resume the match. Unfortunately, the rain did not allow any resumption of the action. Before the final inspection, a scenario was set for a 20-over match. Even that could not happen due to the continuous interruption of rain. In the end, the match was called off due to rain.
