‘Another insane last over drama’ – Twitter can’t kept calm after Bangladesh wins thriller against Zimbabwe
Bangladesh and Zimbabwe locked horns in the Super 12 game of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Brisbane. Talking about the game, both teams needed to win to strengthen their chances for the semifinal qualifications. Also, not to forget, Pakistan also needed their Asian neighbors to win for the semis hopes sake. Meanwhile, after winning the toss, the Green Brigade elected to bat first.
They had a poor start as Soumya Sarkar bagged a silver duck while Liton Das (14) could score big. At 32/2, Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Shanto stitched a partnership of 52 runs. The latter scored an important 71 runs off 55 balls before losing his wicket in the 17th over. Afif Hossain” cameo of 29 off 19 balls ensured that the Asian side reached a fighting total of 150/7.
For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarwa and Blessing Muzarbani took two wickets each. On the other hand, man in form, Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams took one each.
So close, yet so far for Zimbabwe
In reply, the Southern African side lost four wickets inside the powerplay. One of them was the all-important wicket of Sikandar Raza. Regis Chakabva couldn’t do much either as he got out after scoring 19. At this stage, the win was likely for Bangladesh as the scorecard read, 69/5. However, the likes of Sean Williams and Ryan Burl weren’t ready to give up yet.
They put together 63 important runs for the team and took the team close to the win. When the team needed 19 runs off nine balls, Williams was run out by the brilliance of Shakib Al Hasan. The former tried to steal a single but Hasan wasn’t ready to concede it and hit the stumps to end the danger posed by the Zimbabwean. This broke the back of the chase. In the last over, 15 runs were needed for the Red Brigade to win the game.
Richard Ngarwa almost became an unlikely hero as he hit 10 runs off two balls. However, he got stumped on the penultimate ball of the game and the team ended up losing the game by three runs.

Another insane final over in the tournament! Bangladesh through, by the skin of their teeth. Tremendous comeback by Zim after the top order had been wiped out early. May not make the cut for the semis, but have shown themselves most gritty team in WC
