‘Aus waalo bas karo kitni maaroge hamaari’ – Fans react as Josh Inglis scores his maiden T20I hundred against India in Vishakhapatnam
Josh Inglis scored a magnificent hundred against India in the first T20I of the series against India. The 5-match series between India and Australia will act as a good preparatory assignment for the teams to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2024 next year. The series started just 4 days after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. The first of the five T20Is is taking place in Vishakhapatnam.
India won the toss and elected to bowl first on a good batting surface. India had a good start to bowling. At one stage, India had Australia at 35/1 after the first 5 overs. In came Josh Inglis and took on the Pacers straightaway. In the second over Prasidh Krishna, Inglis scored 19 runs in an over. It reduced the pressure from Australia and led to a change in momentum.
In the middle overs, Inglis targeted the spinners well. On a wicket which improved to bat on, Inglis hit some thunderous blows against spinners and placed the shots in gaps well. Inglis took the attack on Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel, who seemed poor with their lengths. Bishnoi, in particular, bowled a lot of short balls. Inglis enjoyed batting in the middle.
Maiden T20I hundred for Josh Inglis
Despite Steve Smith struggling to go at the other end, Inglis played his shots. As Smith joined the party, Inglis became much more aggressive. Inglis got to his first fifty in 29 balls and followed it up with his second fifty in the next 18 balls. It was a good display of a calculative power hitting. The knock of Inglis powered Australia to a good recovery in their innings with the bat.
In his stay in the middle, the wicketkeeper batter scored 110 runs in just 50 balls, which included 11 fours and 8 massive sixes. Inglis registered his maiden ton in T20Is at a terrific strike rate of 220.00. It took a good delivery from Prasidh to dismiss Inglis, which was also against the run of play. In the end, Australia registered a score of 208 runs in their 20 overs. Inglis was the main reason behind the mammoth total.
