‘Australia ne prove kar diya ki voh semifinal race mein rahenge‘ – Fans react to Australia hammering Netherlands by 309 runs in ODI World Cup 2023
The Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi saw the Australians show no mercy towards the Netherlands team. Pat Cummins and his side won the game by a whopping margin of 309 runs on Wednesday. With this win, Australia now have won their third game of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.
It was a miserable day for Scott Edwards and his side after they asked to bowl first. Pat Cummins wanted to make full use of the better batting conditions during the early part of the game.
Australia will next play against New Zealand in a key game on Saturday at Dharamshala. The Kiwis had lost their previous game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament to India by four wickets.
Netherlands battered and bruised by rampant Australia
Chasing 400 to win, Vikramjit Singh’s run-a-ball 25 was the only saving grace in a miserable day with the bat. The Dutch team was all out for just 90 runs in the 21st over to lose the game by 309 runs.
Mitchell Starc began by dismissing Max O Dowd for 6, this was followed by Josh Hazlewood getting Colin Ackermann for 10. Glenn Maxwell’s amazing throw saw Vikramjit Singh run out for 25. Mitchell Marsh picked 2 for 19 from his four overs for Australia. Adam Zampa though was the star again as he picked 4 for 8 from just three overs to dismiss the Dutch team for the paltry score.
Earlier in the day Australia scored a massive 399 runs for the loss of eight wickets from their 50 overs. Glenn Maxwell wrote his name in the history books as he scored the fastest century in ODI World Cup history. The century came off just 40 balls as the Australian batter let out a huge roar to celebrate the feat. David Warner continued his purple patch with the bat to score 104 runs. This was his second ODI World Cup 2023 century in consecutive games. The Australian veteran scored his 22nd ODI ton to etch his name as one of the greats in the ODI format for his national side.
Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne scored half-centuries to provide good support to David Warner. Logan Van Beek picked 4/74 with the ball from his ten overs while Bas De Leede conceded 115 runs from his 10 overs.

There is no doubt that the bigger this margin will be very useful to the Australians in the upcoming matches. This would have improved their run rate a lot. And there is no doubt about it, today Australia played tremendous cricket, they outlasted the NL
